or too long, the Canadian Security Industry has been dependent on voices from outside the actual operating arena for advice, knowledge, know-how and encouragement. Manufacturers mean well – but their sales and promotional people have little or no experience in the field. Ditto for distributor personnel. Representatives of magazines who serve the industry have even less direct knowledge of the cares and concerns that greet installation companies when they arrive at a jobsite.

Canadian Security Installer (CSI) Magazine aims to change all that!

Contributors to this publication will be encouraged to share their experiences – some will be informative, some humorous and yet others will involve people posing questions and seeking the assistance of readers to help them overcome difficult situations they have encountered.

As time passes, we hope you will learn that the sole reason for this journal is to help you in the process of setting up and running your electronic security business. Some of the ideas that will be discussed in depth will be:

  • The advantages and disadvantages of incorporation
  • Key components of a good Subscriber Agreement
  • Accounting principles to help maximize your profits and minimize your taxes
  • Installation tips and time-saving techniques
  • Interesting anecdotes from industry veterans – both serious and on the funny side
  • We are hoping for regular contributions from CANASA and other industry associations
  • Police and Fire departments will be invited to contribute
  • Manufacturers and distributors will be invited to advertise and to offer other content as well

Our most fervent hope is that you, as a professional involved in our industry, will also offer your input.
